It may be necessary to hand trim your mural/wall accent to remove excess
background paper. With a razor knife or sharp scissors, carefully trim
away excess paper that you do not want to appear on your finished wall.
1. Select the
wall area on which your mural/wall accent will be installed. Using a
carpenter's level, make a light pencil guideline to position the bottom of
the mural and one of the vertical edges. Prepare the surface as instructed
above.
2. Your
mural/wall accent is pre-pasted so you will need to activate the paste
with water. Fill a water tray or tub with room temperature water. Loosely
roll your mural, paste side out, and immerse the entire roll in water for
approximately 20 seconds.
3. Slowly
pull the mural/wall accent from the water, allowing it to unwind, leaving
no dry spots of adhesive. Fold each end toward the
middle, paste sides together, aligning the edges carefully so they
will not dry out, Allow the fold to bow slightly, being careful not to
crease the fold.
Set the moistened paper aside and
allow it to stand 2 to 3 minutes. This is called "booking," which allows
the paste to become fully activated and relaxes the paper.
4.
Once the paste is
activated and the paper has relaxed, carefully unfold the piece and
position it onto your prepared surface, using your pencil marks as
guidelines.. Using a smoothing brush or sponge, carefully smooth away air
pockets, wrinkles or excess paste moving from the center to the edge. Wipe
paste from face of paper with a clean, damp sponge.
Now! Step back and admire the beautiful new
addition to your room.
